Lorraine Kelly, the well-known television presenter, has expressed her grief following the unexpected passing of her father, John Kelly, aged 84. John was discovered injured on a walking path near St Leonard’s Square shopping area in his hometown of East Kilbride on Saturday morning. Despite his ongoing health issues, Lorraine described his death as a shock.
In a heartfelt message shared on social media, Lorraine reflected on her father’s influence on her life. She wrote, “Very sad news. My dad has died. I am mourning the man who bought me a telescope when I was five years old, who watched the moon landings with me and taught me to always be curious and interested in everything.” She emphasized how much she and her family would miss him.
Following the news, Police Scotland indicated that the death is currently being treated as “unexplained but not suspicious.” A spokesperson revealed that officers continue to support the family during this difficult time. Lorraine and her brother, Graham, are caring for their mother and have requested privacy while they grieve.
Many fans and public figures, including TV personalities Davina McCall, Denise Welch, and Gabby Logan, offered their sympathies. Notably, Gabby Logan’s father, former footballer Terry Yorath, also passed away earlier this week.
