Willesden man charged with murder after car hit pedestrians

A man has been formally charged with murder following an incident in north-west London where a pedestrian was struck by a car. The victim, Ruben Nunes, aged 34 and from Peterborough, was involved in the collision on 3 December in the Willesden area, according to the Metropolitan Police.

Initially, Shakaine Dwyer, 29, from Willesden, faced charges related to causing death by dangerous driving as of 7 December. However, on the following Monday, these charges were escalated to murder, as confirmed by the police force. Alongside this, another individual, 31-year-old Gregory Ejiofor from Milton Keynes, has been charged with possession of a firearm with the intent to cause fear of violence.

The incident occurred at 12:45 GMT when officers responded to reports of a collision on Chapel Close involving a car and pedestrians. Tragically, Ruben Nunes died at the scene of the accident. The authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the event.

In a statement released earlier in the month, Ruben’s family expressed their grief and shared memories of him. They described Ruben as “a family man – a son, a brother, an uncle, a father and a partner.” They also noted his loyalty to friends and his passion for football, particularly as a devoted Liverpool supporter. The family concluded by saying, “Ruben had a light within him – he brightened the lives of everyone he touched. He was deeply loved by all who knew him and he will always be remembered as a truly blessed soul.”
