A 68-year-old man tragically lost his life on Christmas Day, prompting a murder charge against another individual. The incident occurred in St Asaph, Denbighshire, where emergency responders were called to a property on High Street just after noon on December 25 following reports of a disturbance. Despite being rushed to hospital, Harold David Turner died later that same day. His family has expressed their sorrow, describing him as someone who will be “sadly missed.”
The man accused of Mr. Turner’s murder, aged 66, made his first court appearance on Monday at Llandudno Magistrates’ Court. During the hearing, District Judge Gwyn Jones ordered that he be remanded in custody ahead of the next stage of legal proceedings. The accused is scheduled to appear via videolink at Mold Crown Court on December 31.
Reflecting on Mr. Turner’s life, his family shared that he was one of six siblings. After finishing school, he served in the Navy and went on to work in various locations, including London, Ireland, and his hometown of Rhyl. Their tribute highlights the breadth of his experience and the loss felt by those who knew him.
Detective Chief Inspector Eleri Thomas has called on anyone near the Old Palace Flats area who witnessed or heard anything relevant before the incident to come forward. She noted that police investigations are ongoing, with a presence maintained in the neighborhood to provide reassurance.
