Three people missing after Boxing Day house fire in Stroud

On the early morning of Boxing Day, a house fire broke out on Brimscombe Hill near Stroud, Gloucestershire, resulting in three individuals being reported missing, according to police. The emergency services were alerted to the incident at approximately 03:00 GMT. Gloucestershire Constabulary confirmed that one person managed to escape the burning property and was subsequently hospitalized.

Authorities are continuing their search for the three people who are believed to have been inside the house at the time of the fire but have not yet been located. A spokesperson for the police stated, “Three other people, who were believed to have been inside the property, have not yet been accounted for and efforts to locate them are ongoing.”

Firefighters from Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service contained the blaze, successfully preventing it from spreading to adjacent buildings. Despite their efforts, the house suffered severe damage. To ensure safety, structural engineers assessed the building and declared it safe for emergency crews to enter to investigate the cause of the fire.

Currently, part of Brimscombe Hill remains closed off, with officials advising the public to avoid the area. The investigation into what sparked the fire is ongoing, and emergency teams plan to stay on site throughout the day to carry out their work
