Four arrested after man shot in Sheffield on Christmas Day

On Christmas Day, four men were taken into custody on suspicion of attempted murder following a shooting incident in Sheffield. The victim, a 20-year-old man, was shot in the chest at around 23:30 GMT on Wilfred Drive in the Darnall neighborhood. Emergency services promptly transported him to the hospital.

According to a spokesperson from South Yorkshire Police, the young man remained in a critical and life-threatening condition the following day, Boxing Day. Authorities have kept the suspects—aged 20, 22, 28, and 29—in custody as the investigation continues. Police have appealed to the public for any information that could aid the inquiry, particularly relevant CCTV footage in the area.

A police cordon remains established at the scene as officers carry out their work. Chief Inspector Andy Knowles described the event as “an abhorrent incident that has left a man fighting for his life.” He emphasized the dangers posed by gun crime, stressing that such violence threatens community safety and will not be tolerated under any circumstance.
