Two teenagers have been convicted of murdering Kamran Rasool Aman, a 38-year-old man who was fatally stabbed in a racially motivated, unprovoked attack. The defendants, aged 17 and 16, denied murder but pleaded guilty to manslaughter. Following deliberations lasting less than seven hours, a jury at Cardiff Crown Court unanimously found them guilty. Sentencing is scheduled for 20 February.
The tragic incident occurred just before midnight on 30 June in Barry Road, Barry. Mr Aman was sitting in his car when the younger teenager, under the influence of alcohol and having recently been involved in a fight with the older defendant, singled him out because of his skin color. The assailant shouted racist insults after unsuccessfully attempting to open the car’s passenger door. Earlier that evening, Mr Aman had been delivering food to his wife and child and was on his way to drop off groceries to his mother.
