A restaurant in Market Harborough, Leicestershire, recently welcomed an unexpected visit from Hollywood stars Tom Holland and Zendaya, leaving the staff “absolutely starstruck,” according to the establishment’s owner. Pradip Karanjit, who manages Everest Lounge on St Mary’s Road, revealed that the two actors dined at his fully booked restaurant while they were in the area attending a theatre performance. Despite the restaurant’s capacity, the team was happy to make room for the famous visitors.
Karanjit described the pair, known for their roles in the latest Spider-Man film, as down-to-earth and appearing much like any ordinary young couple enjoying an evening meal. Holland ordered chicken tikka masala accompanied by pilau rice and garlic naan, while Zendaya chose a vegetarian meal consisting of chana saag bengan, paneer shaslik starter, and a side of saag aloo.
Both actors, aged 29, have built notable careers beyond their Spider-Man roles. Zendaya began her rise to fame on the Disney Channel before starring in films such as Dune, Challengers, Malcolm & Marie, and the TV series Euphoria. Holland, who started as a child lead in Billy Elliot the Musical on London’s West End, has since appeared in movies like Uncharted, Cherry, and The Devil All The Time, alongside his significant role as Spider-Man in multiple films within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Although Karanjit was not present during their visit, his phone was overwhelmed with calls from staff eager to share the news. He expressed pride that the restaurant and town of Market Harborough experienced such a special moment. The visit coincided with the couple’s attendance at a performance of The Sound of Music at Leicester’s Curve theatre, a venue where Holland is a notable patron, having also attended My Fair Lady there earlier in 2024.
