Husband and 5 other men charged with sex offences against ex-wife

Philip Young, a 49-year-old man formerly from Swindon and now residing in Enfield, faces 56 charges relating to sexual offences spanning 13 years against his ex-wife, Joanne Young. These allegations include serious crimes such as rape and administering a substance with the intent to stupefy. In addition, he has been accused of voyeurism, possession of indecent images involving children, and possession of extreme images. Joanne Young, aged 48, has chosen to waive her right to anonymity in this case.

Alongside Philip Young, five other men have been charged with sexual offences against Joanne Young. All six individuals are scheduled to appear in Swindon Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday. While Philip Young remains in custody, the other five men have been released on bail pending their court appearances. The police have highlighted Philip Young as a white British national, with details also provided about the other accused men.

Those charged include Norman Macksoni, 47, from Sharnbrook, who is described as a black British national and faces charges of one count of rape and possession of extreme images. Dean Hamilton, 47, with no fixed address and identified as white British, is charged with one count of rape, sexual assault by penetration, and two counts of sexual touching. Another accused, Conner Sanderson Doyle, 31, from Swindon, is charged with sexual assault by penetration and sexual touching and is also described as white British. Richard Wilkins, 61, also from Swindon, faces charges of one count of rape and sexual touching; he is likewise identified as white British. Lastly, Mohammed Hassan, 37, from Swindon and described as British Asian, has been charged with sexual touching.

Detective Superintendent Geoff Smith of Wiltshire Police has characterized this development as a significant progression in what is a complex and extensive investigation. He stated that Joanne Young is receiving support from officers who are specially trained to assist victims in cases like this
