A tragic two-car collision in Fife has resulted in the death of a second individual in hospital. The crash occurred at approximately 11:10 p.m. on Friday on the B981 road, situated between Cluny and the Chapel junction roundabout. Initially, a 48-year-old woman driving a Volkswagen Polo was declared dead at the scene.
Among the three passengers traveling in the same vehicle, a 64-year-old man succumbed to his injuries on Sunday morning after being taken to the hospital. Another passenger from the Polo remains hospitalized, according to police reports.
The driver of the Nissan Qashqai involved in the crash, a 33-year-old woman, was arrested on suspicion of a road traffic offence. She was also taken to hospital but has since been discharged. To facilitate investigations, the road was temporarily closed and reopened around 6:30 a.m. on Saturday.
Sergeant Louise Birrell expressed condolences, stating, “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the woman and man who died.” She added that inquiries into the event are still underway and urged anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward with information
