Woman killed and three passengers injured after Fife crash

A fatal collision involving two vehicles occurred in Fife late on Friday night, resulting in the death of a 48-year-old woman and injuries to three other individuals. The crash took place at approximately 23:10 on the B981 road, situated between Cluny and the Chapel junction roundabout. The vehicles involved were a black Nissan Qashqai and a white Volkswagen Polo.

According to police reports, the driver of the Volkswagen Polo, a 48-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene. In addition to her, three passengers from the same vehicle were injured and subsequently transported to hospital. One of these passengers remains in a serious condition. Meanwhile, the 33-year-old female driver of the Nissan Qashqai was arrested in connection with a road traffic offense.

Authorities closed the B981 to facilitate their investigation, reopening the road shortly before 06:30 the following morning. Sergeant Louise Birrell expressed condolences, saying: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the woman who died at this extremely difficult time.”

She also urged anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward, stating that inquiries into the crash continue. Those with relevant information are encouraged to contact the police to assist with ongoing investigations
