Wife and lover in Carmarthenshire caravan murder plot jailed

A woman from south-west Wales and her former marine lover have each been sentenced to 19 years in prison for conspiring to murder her husband at their caravan home. The incident occurred on 20 September 2024, when Christopher Mills was assaulted by two masked assailants armed with guns, gloves, and cable ties at the caravan they shared in Cenarth, Carmarthenshire.

Christopher Mills’ barrister described the attack as having a devastating impact, stating it had “pretty much ruined his life,” with Mr Mills suffering ongoing flashbacks. Judge Mr Justice Nicklin, while passing sentence, acknowledged the extensive planning involved in the crime and confirmed that the defendants’ intent was clearly to kill, despite their poorly executed attempt. The judge also noted that Berry appeared to have exerted some coercion over Thomas, who expressed deep regret for his role in the attack.

The relationship between Michelle Mills and Geraint Berry began while they were both working at a homeless charity for veterans. Their affair quickly escalated into planning her husband’s murder. They devised multiple attempts to kill Christopher, initially aiming to make it appear as suicide. Early efforts in August 2024 failed after Berry injured himself
