Covid denier jailed for three years after urging armed revolt

A man from south London who denied the existence of Covid has been sentenced to three years and three months in prison for encouraging people to carry out an armed uprising during the pandemic. The Old Bailey was told that 60-year-old Paul Martin was an active contributor to a Telegram group named The Resistance UK, where he urged individuals to attack Britain’s critical infrastructure.

During the proceedings, it emerged that Martin had accumulated a variety of weapons in his flat in South Norwood, including crossbows and pistols, though he was acquitted of possessing them with terrorist intent. Ultimately, he was found guilty of encouraging terrorism, charges he denied throughout the trial. Martin insisted his crossbows were intended solely for sporting purposes, and described his pistols as those “commonly used in fairgrounds.”
