William Rush, known for his role as Josh Stevenson in the BBC One drama *Waterloo Road*, has tragically passed away at the age of 31, according to a statement from his family. He appeared in a total of 168 episodes of the popular series between 2009 and 2013. Rush’s career began as a child actor, with parts in shows such as *Grange Hill* and *Shameless*, and he later secured roles in *Casualty* and *Vera*.
His mother, Debbie Rush, herself an actress famous for her decade-long portrayal of Anna Windass on *Coronation Street*, shared the heartbreaking news via Instagram. She wrote, “As a family, our hearts are completely broken.” The cause of William’s death has not been made public. Known for his talents beyond acting, William also took part in the ITV talent show *The X Factor* in 2016, reaching the “six-chair challenge” stage.
In her tribute, Debbie Rush referred to William as “our beautiful baby boy” and expressed the immense sorrow felt by the family: “There are no words that can truly capture the depth of our loss.” She also honored his compassionate decision to register as an organ donor, stating, “Even in our darkest moment, William gave the most precious gift of all.” She praised his selflessness, saying that through organ donation, he has brought hope and life to other families — a legacy that will endure.
