Man who drove into Liverpool FC parade jailed for more than 21 years

A former Royal Marine, Paul Doyle, has been sentenced to over 21 years in prison after deliberately driving into a crowd of Liverpool football supporters during a victory parade, causing widespread injury and trauma. The 54-year-old was sentenced at Liverpool crown court, where victims and their families were present, some visibly emotional. Merseyside police described the incident as a “miracle” that no fatalities occurred, considering Doyle used his vehicle aggressively as a weapon in what was described as a “moment of rage” on 26 May.

Video evidence captured Doyle speeding in his two-tonne Ford Galaxy through groups of fans, striking 134 individuals within a span of two minutes. The attack led to severe and life-altering injuries for several people.
