The lineup for the Strictly Come Dancing final has been announced following the latest elimination in Sunday night’s results show. This week, the bottom two contestants were EastEnders actress Balvinder Sopal with her partner Julian Caillon, marking their sixth time in the dance-off this season, alongside reality TV personality Amber Davies and her partner Nikita Kuzmin. After their dance-off, the judges decided to send Sopal home.
Amber Davies successfully survived the dance-off for the second consecutive week and will proceed to the final alongside social media influencer George Clarke and former England footballer Karen Carney. Reflecting on her time on the show after her departure, Sopal expressed her joy, stating she had “absolutely adored every single minute.” She spoke fondly of the experience, saying, “All the dance-offs, all the challenges, but just more than anything, just being in this building and dancing on this floor with such an amazing human being.”
Sopal also highlighted the year as her “Yes Year,” mentioning how she embraced the opportunity to participate in Strictly despite her family facing some difficult times. She shared heartfelt praise for her dance partner Caillon: “You’ve been brilliant in every sense of the word.” She recalled how he supported her through both her struggles and triumphs, adding, “I’ve never felt alone on this floor.” Caillon, in turn, praised Sopal’s resilience and spirit, calling her the embodiment of what Strictly Come Dancing represents. He remarked that her determination inspired him to dream bigger, emphasizing the power of desire in pursuing one’s goals.
During Saturday’s performances, each of the remaining celebrities danced twice. Karen Carney and her partner Carlos Gu achieved the highest score, nearly perfect with 78 out of 80 points. Sunday’s results show also featured a special tribute to departing hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman. After a highlight reel of their best moments on the show, both were honored with their own distinctive golden Glitterball Trophy. Additionally, viewers were treated to a festive performance of Kylie Minogue’s new single “XMAS,” accompanied by 16 professional dancers from the show, and a special rendition of the 1990s hit “Sit Down” by the band James. The three finalist couples will compete once again in the grand final scheduled to air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer at 19:00 GMT on Saturday, 20 December, where the winner will be announced
