Police Scotland has made a major breakthrough in their ongoing battle against drug trafficking, seizing cocaine with a street value estimated to exceed £8 million. Authorities described the operation as a “significant” success in efforts to disrupt illegal drug distribution across the country.
The seizure followed a raid on a property located on Melton Road in Belshill, North Lanarkshire, where police executed a warrant on Thursday. During the operation, three men aged 29, 46, and 65 were apprehended at the scene. All three individuals have since been formally charged and are scheduled to appear in Hamilton Sheriff Court on Monday.
Detective Superintendent Steven Elliot highlighted the importance of this recovery, emphasizing its scale as one of the largest seen in Scotland. He stressed that the achievement reinforces the work undertaken by the Serious Organised Crime Taskforce and aligns closely with the national Serious Organised Crime Strategy. According to Elliot, removing drugs from communities remains a top priority for Police Scotland.
