Kevin Sinfield, the former rugby league player, recently visited the family of Kyle Sieniawski, a 14-year-old boy who passed away last week after being diagnosed with motor neurone disease (MND) less than a year ago. Kyle was from Pontypridd in Rhondda Cynon Taf, and his family gathered at Gorseinon Rugby Club in Swansea to meet Sinfield.
Sinfield, who formerly played for Leeds Rhinos, is currently engaged in an intense MND fundraising effort. He is undertaking a series of ultramarathons to raise awareness and funds for the disease, inspired by his late friend and former teammate Rob Burrow, who succumbed to MND earlier in 2024.
Kyle’s death on November 27 marks him as potentially the youngest person in the UK to have died from MND. During his visit, Sinfield spoke with Kyle’s parents and his older brother Liam, promising to ensure that Kyle’s memory would endure.
As part of his commitment, Sinfield conveyed to the family that Kyle would “always be remembered,” underscoring the importance of honoring those affected by this devastating illness
