King Charles and Queen Camilla have selected a photograph taken during their visit to Rome as the official image for their Christmas card this year. The picture, snapped in April at the British ambassador’s residence, Villa Wolkonsky, captures the couple standing side by side along a garden path, both smiling warmly. Inside the card, the greeting expresses wishes for a “very happy Christmas and New Year.”
In the photograph, King Charles is dressed in a dark blue suit paired with a grey tie, while Queen Camilla wears a white and beige coat dress. The photo was taken by Chris Jackson to commemorate the royal couple’s 20th wedding anniversary. Notably, the Queen also sports a lily of the valley brooch, symbolizing everlasting love.
This marks the fourth consecutive Christmas card released by the couple since Charles ascended the throne. Unlike the more formal image featured on last year’s card, this year’s photo is relaxed and informal in style. Last year’s picture, captured by Millie Pilkington, showed the King returning to public engagements after undergoing cancer treatment, with both royals smiling in the gardens of Buckingham Palace on a bright day. In contrast, the 2023 card featured a coronation portrait taken in Buckingham Palace’s Throne Room.
Traditionally, senior members of the Royal Family share festive photographs for their official Christmas greetings.
