Man and woman, 24, killed in crash in Aberdeenshire

A fatal collision involving two vehicles occurred on a road in Aberdeenshire, resulting in the deaths of two people. The crash took place near the village of Clola on the A952, between Toll of Birness and Mintlaw, around 19:25 on Saturday evening. The passenger in a black Vauxhall Corsa, a 24-year-old man, was declared dead at the scene.

The driver of the Vauxhall Corsa, a woman also aged 24, was transported to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary but sadly passed away later due to injuries sustained in the accident. A grey Land Rover Evoque was the other vehicle involved in the crash. Along with those who died, the occupants of the Evoque included a 62-year-old man, a 61-year-old woman, and two young boys aged seven and five, all of whom were taken to hospital for treatment.

Following the incident, police closed the affected stretch of road for several hours as they conducted an initial investigation into the collision. Officers have requested assistance from anyone who was driving in the vicinity at the time, especially those with dash-cam footage that could provide further information about the crash.

Sgt Pete Henderson expressed condolences, stating, “Our thoughts are with the families of those who died and everyone affected by this incident.” The investigation remains ongoing as authorities seek to understand the circumstances leading up to the tragic event
