During a school’s Christmas performance, a young boy captured the hearts of the audience when he appeared on stage dressed as Elvis Presley, rather than his intended character, Elvis the Elf. Nine-year-old Oscar, from Aberdare in Rhondda Cynon Taf, embraced the moment and performed confidently alongside his classmates despite the costume confusion.
Oscar had told his family that he needed an Elvis costume for the play, leading his mother to prepare a full rock ’n’ roll outfit for him, unaware of the mix-up. His older sister, Jade, shared with BBC Wales that the school changes its themes annually, recalling that Oscar once played the role of an alien. “So when he said he needed to be Elvis, we just thought it was strange but okay,” she said.
The family only discovered the mistake when Oscar appeared on stage beside other children all dressed as elves. Jade explained, “All the other children were dressed as elves. We definitely were not made aware that he had the wrong costume until it became apparent.” Despite the error, Oscar was unbothered by the situation. When asked if he had any concerns before the concert, he remarked that the costume “was not sparkly enough.”
Even after realizing the costumes didn’t match, Oscar remained unfazed. Jade noted, “He was completely blase about it. He really enjoyed it, nothing fazes him.” His calm and cheerful attitude won the audience over, highlighting his confident and easygoing nature
