Father in court accused of murder of son who was hurt as a baby

A man has appeared before the court facing charges of murdering his son, who passed away 14 years after suffering a major head injury in infancy. Lejunae Wood, aged 42 and from Wuppertal, Germany, was brought to Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court following his arrest at Heathrow Airport. He is accused in connection with the death of Leajunne Wood, who died in 2021 at the age of 14.

When Leajunne was just four months old, authorities discovered that he had sustained significant, life-altering injuries during an incident that occurred in December 2007 in Hayes, located in west London, as reported by the Metropolitan Police. During the court appearance, Mr. Wood confirmed his identity, and proceedings are set to continue at the Old Bailey on Tuesday.

Reports from a pathologist in 2023 indicated that the cause of Leajunne’s death was linked to complications arising from the earlier severe head trauma. The Metropolitan Police shared this medical finding as part of the ongoing investigation.
