Tech the Halls event helps to build residents’ digital confidence

Liverpool City Council is set to organize an event next month focused on boosting digital confidence as part of the acclaimed Stanley Park Market. The free event, named Tech the Halls, is designed to assist residents in getting online and enhancing their digital skills.

Scheduled for Wednesday, 10 December, the event will run from 10am until 3pm at the Reds Lounge within LFC’s Anfield Stadium, specifically located in the Kenny Dalglish Stand. The Council’s new case management system provider, Jadu, will join as a co-host for the occasion. This initiative supports the Liverpool City Region’s broader digital inclusion strategy, which seeks to build confidence, develop skills, and demonstrate the possibilities offered by online services.

Attendees will have access to hands-on assistance with using digital devices and navigating online platforms. There will also be expert guidance from various partners including Barclays, Liverpool Libraries, Merseyside Police, Alzheimer’s Society, Age Concern, MerseyCare Digital Inclusion Team, Customer Experience Team, Adult Social Care, and the National Careers Service, which offers support with CV creation, interviews, and job searches. In addition, Healthy Homes and National Energy Action will provide energy advice along with winter warmer packs. Participants can also receive free items aimed at helping them stay connected and secure online.

Councillor Joanne Kennedy, Cabinet Member for Employment, Educational Attainment and Skills, emphasized the importance of the event: “There are so many services available online that can help people carry out everyday tasks, grow their skills and stay in touch with loved ones. But many people, particularly some older members of the community, don’t have the access or confidence to make the most of it. This event is a way for the Council and our partners to empower these people to make the most of their digital options. If you know somebody who doesn’t have access to the internet or struggles to use it, please make sure they know that they can come to Anfield for expert support.” Councillor Harry Doyle, Cabinet Member for Health, Wellbeing and Culture, highlighted the community value of such initiatives: “We’re incredibly proud of our markets in Liverpool and how they enrich communities. Events like Tech the Halls reflect that by bringing people together, providing opportunities, and ensuring everyone can access the tools they need to thrive in a digital world.” Councillor Ruth Bennett, Cabinet Member for Finances, Resources and Transformation, added: “We’re proud to be working closely with Jadu to help people improve their digital confidence. Events such as Tech the Halls are a great example of how we ensure that our contracts are not just about services but about bringing real benefit to local communities.”
