Children hurt as roof of school bus ripped off by Coppull bridge

A school double-decker bus collided with a low bridge on Spendmore Lane in Coppull, Lancashire, causing the roof to be torn off and resulting in injuries to several children. The incident occurred around 12:30 GMT, prompting a swift emergency response. Among those hurt was an eight-year-old boy who was transported to the hospital with a head injury described as “non-serious.”

Emergency crews, including paramedics from the North West Ambulance Service, treated the children at the scene. Apart from the young boy taken to hospital, the others received medical assessments but were discharged without the need for further care. This information was confirmed by officials attending the incident.

Lancashire Police reported that multiple children sustained injuries from the crash, though these were believed to be relatively minor at this stage. The police, alongside fire and ambulance services, remained on site managing the situation and ensuring public safety.
