Two women tragically lost their lives in a collision that also severely injured a nine-year-old boy, causing life-altering damage. The victims, Amie Pearson, aged 26, and Chelsea Carlisle, aged 29, were passengers in a Suzuki Alto involved in the crash. Alongside them was the young boy who suffers from critical injuries following the incident.
The crash occurred at around 06:20 GMT on Thursday in Pleasley, located on the border between Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire. The Suzuki Alto collided with a Vauxhall Meriva during this time. In addition to the two women and the boy, three men inside the Vauxhall Meriva sustained injuries, with two of them requiring hospital treatment for serious conditions.
Authorities arrested an 18-year-old man at the scene on Common Lane, suspecting him of causing death by dangerous driving. The young man remains hospitalized following the incident. Meanwhile, the emergency response included road closures and the involvement of fire services from both Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.
The section of the road between the A617 and Meadow Lane was temporarily shut down to enable emergency teams to work safely at the scene. Fire crews from multiple stations in the surrounding area responded to the crash, assisting with the rescue efforts and subsequent investigations
