Strictly Come Dancing: La Voix withdraws after an injury

La Voix, a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing, has had to withdraw from the competition following an injury. This announcement was made by presenter Tess Daly during the Saturday episode broadcast from Blackpool, revealing that medical advice necessitated the decision. Earlier reports had indicated that La Voix would not be able to perform on Saturday’s show, though there had been optimism about a possible return alongside dance partner Aljaž Škorjanec in the following week.

The performer, whose real name is Chris Dennis, expressed disappointment on Instagram, stating, “This isn’t the ending I imagined, but I’ll cherish this forever.” La Voix has been a standout on the show, captivating audiences with performances including jive, waltz, and foxtrot routines alongside Škorjanec. Despite the setback, the dancer’s spirit remained strong, though the injury ultimately prevented further participation.

La Voix first rose to prominence as a finalist on RuPaul’s Drag Race UK, where the character quickly became a fan favorite. Ahead of Strictly, Dennis shared that part of his aim was to allow viewers to connect with the person behind the drag persona. Although the exact nature of the injury has not been disclosed, La Voix acknowledged on social media, “My spirit wanted to keep dancing but my foot has other ideas,” further explaining, “Due to an injury, I’ve been advised that I’m unable to perform.”

This withdrawal is the latest in a series of injury-related exits from this year’s Strictly Come Dancing. In a response to these challenges, the show announced that no elimination would take place during this week’s dance-off, with the votes being carried over instead. Previously, actor Stefan Dennis left the competition due to injury, and TV personality Dani Dyer withdrew before the show began after breaking her ankle, with Amber Davies stepping in as her replacement
