Murder suspect charged after man fatally stabbed at Norwich flats

A man has been formally charged with murder following the death of an individual at a residential building housing students and professionals. Emergency responders were alerted to Somerleyton House, located on Somerleyton Street in Norwich, at approximately 05:20 GMT on Saturday, responding to reports of a stabbing.

Upon arrival, Norfolk Police found a man in his 30s suffering from a stab wound. He was declared dead at the scene. A subsequent post-mortem examination confirmed that the cause of death was a stab wound to the chest. Alongside this, a 27-year-old man was detained by officers.

The arrested individual, identified as Benjamin Katabana, who lives on Somerleyton Street and is a Congolese national, now faces a murder charge. He remains in custody ahead of his hearing scheduled for Monday at Norwich Magistrates’ Court.

This incident has prompted a police investigation in the area surrounding the accommodation block, with authorities continuing their inquiries into the circumstances leading up to the fatal stabbing
