Winter events to bring warmth and support to Liverpool

Residents of Liverpool are being invited to take part in an event designed to provide information and practical help to maintain warmth and well-being during the winter months. The Healthy Homes team from Liverpool City Council will host the free Winter Warmer event, offering attendees insights from various organisations and specialists on topics such as energy efficiency, home heating, coping with fuel poverty, healthy eating, social and lifestyle advice, benefits entitlement, emergency fuel and food payments, and debt management.

Scheduled for next Friday, 28 November, from 10 am to 1 pm, the event will take place at the Hilton Hotel located on Thomas Steers Way. Visitors will have access to free food packages, complete with recipes supplied by Zero Waste, along with winter aid items such as hot water bottles, wearable blankets, and thermal vests—available while supplies last. Additionally, benefit maximisation guidance and health checks will be provided throughout the day to ensure everyone is receiving the full range of support for which they qualify.

Beyond this main event, the Healthy Homes team will also be present at several other gatherings across Liverpool in the coming weeks. These partner-hosted sessions are aimed at helping residents stay warm in their homes throughout winter. The dates for these are: Thursday, 27 November from 11 am to 1 pm at the Hope Centre in Tuebrook; Friday, 5 December (time to be confirmed) at West Everton Community Council; and Wednesday, 10 December from 10 am to 3 pm at the Kenny Dalglish Stand, Anfield.

Councillor Laura Robertson-Collins, Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods, emphasised the importance of such initiatives, noting, “It’s been a mild autumn, but temperatures are starting to dip and we know that the winter months can be difficult for many people. These events are a great opportunity for people to find out how to heat their homes as efficiently as possible and to check that they’re receiving all the support they need to stay warm and healthy over the coming months. No-one should have to struggle alone, and we hope that these events will give people a helping hand.”
