A man has been taken into custody on suspicion of attempted murder following a series of three related house fires in a Leicestershire town. The fires broke out at 07:05 GMT on Holywell Avenue in Ashby-de-la-Zouch, followed shortly by incidents at Prestop Drive at 07:08 and Clifton Drive at 07:19.

Two teenagers and a woman sustained injuries caused by burns and smoke inhalation as a result of the fires. They were transported to hospital for treatment, with officials noting that their conditions are neither life-threatening nor expected to result in permanent damage. The police have confirmed that a 50-year-old man is currently in custody in connection with these events and remains detained as investigations continue.

Detective Inspector Jim Willougby stated his belief that all three fires were deliberately set by the same individual. “Our investigation remains at an early stage as we continue to piece together the circumstances behind these three incidents,” he said.
