Arrest after suspected fake admiral at Llandudno Remembrance event

A man has been taken into custody following an inquiry into an incident involving a man impersonating a naval admiral at a Remembrance Sunday ceremony. The arrest was made by North Wales Police, who identified the individual as a 64-year-old resident from the Harlech area in Gwynedd. He is suspected of committing offences related to the illegal use of military attire.

Photos that gained significant attention in both the media and on social networks depicted the individual dressed in the uniform and medals typically worn by a senior naval officer. This took place during the wreath-laying event held in Llandudno on the 9th of November. The police have confirmed that investigations into this matter are still underway.

Chief Inspector Trystan Bevan stated, “We can confirm that during a search of the male’s address earlier today, a naval uniform and a selection of medals were recovered from within.” He also added, “Further updates on this investigation will be provided when available.”

At this stage, no additional information has been released by the authorities, but officers remain engaged in their inquiries regarding the case. The circumstances surrounding the motives and potential consequences are still being examined by North Wales Police
