Remembrance Sunday marked across Northern Ireland

Remembrance Sunday was commemorated with various events taking place throughout Northern Ireland. In Belfast, the ceremony commenced with a two-minute silence at 11:00 GMT, where Belfast Lord Mayor Tracy Kelly laid a wreath in honor of the citizens of Belfast. Notably, Michelle O’Neill participated in the event for the second consecutive year and placed a laurel wreath at the Cenotaph at Belfast City Hall in her capacity as the first minister.

The Deputy First Minister, Emma Little Pengelly, also paid her respects by laying a wreath. Similar ceremonies were held in various cities, towns, and villages across Northern Ireland and the United Kingdom as a whole.

Meanwhile, DUP Leader Gavin Robinson traveled to London to participate in the National Service of Remembrance at the Cenotaph. King Charles III led a two-minute silence at the service and placed a wreath, accompanied by other senior royals and political figures, including Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer. Additionally, Taoiseach Micheál Martin honored the occasion by laying a wreath at the war memorial in Enniskillen during the Remembrance Sunday ceremony, which also reflected on the tragic IRA bomb attack that claimed 12 lives in 1987. To further commemorate the solemnity of the event, Justice Minister Naomi Long attended the Northern Ireland Prison Service Annual Memorial Service at the Memorial Garden at Hydebank Wood to pay tribute to officers who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty
