Jordan Webb: Man appears in court over Portavogie murder

A suspect has been ordered into detention following his appearance in court where he faced charges in connection to the killing of Jordan Webb in Portavogie, County Down. The body of Mr. Webb, 28, was found at a residence on New Harbour Road earlier this week, with emergency services responding to the scene but being unable to save him.

An assault charge from November 2 is also part of his legal troubles.

During the court proceedings, Johnston affirmed his understanding of the charges by responding “yes” when questioned. An officer from the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) informed the court of the evidence connecting Johnston to the crimes, including witness statements, phone records, forensic findings, and confessions made during questioning.

The families of both the victim and the accused were present in court for the hearing, which Judge Rice acknowledged as a serious case involving the tragic loss of a young life. No request for bail was made on Johnston’s behalf, leading to his remand in custody until his next court appearance via video link scheduled for December 3. The judge also emphasized the importance of maintaining decorum and showing respect for the court during proceedings
