Young individuals in Liverpool who are currently seeking employment are welcomed to attend the city’s inaugural Youth Guarantee Trailblazer event the following week. Scheduled for Tuesday, November 11, young people between the ages of 18 and 21 can participate in a special marketplace event at Liverpool Town Hall to connect with various partners offering support for paid employment opportunities.
Acknowledged by the government as one of eight Youth Guarantee Trailblazer areas, the Liverpool City Region has received a £5m grant from the Combined Authority to explore innovative strategies to ensure all young people, particularly those classified as NEET (not in employment, education, or training), receive assistance in securing employment. The event is open to all and does not require registration, but due to space constraints at the Town Hall, attendees are encouraged to reserve their spot through Eventbrite for either the morning session from 10am to noon or the afternoon session from 12:30pm to 2pm.
Youth, along with their parents, caregivers, advisors, coaches, and mentors, are all encouraged to attend the event, where they will have the opportunity to engage with a variety of partners. Recently, the council awarded grants to organizations under four categories to assist employers and young individuals in maximizing the benefits of their placements. Supported organizations include Catch 22, Merseyside Youth Association, The Big Trust, Be Free Campaign, Sound City Liverpool, Kings Trust, and Blackburne House, among others.
Funding grants are available through the Youth Guarantee Trailblazer program for employers interested in creating employment opportunities for young individuals, with additional funding options such as the Young Person’s Guarantee also available. For more information regarding creating a placement for a young person, employers are encouraged to reach out to youthtrailblazer@liverpool.gov.uk. Similarly, young people interested in the program can get in touch with the team by completing an online contact form. In conclusion, Joanne Kennedy, Liverpool City Council’s Cabinet Member for Employment, Educational Attainment, and Skills, praised the opportunities presented by the event and emphasized the importance of supporting both young individuals and employers in Liverpool and the wider region
