A teenager has been convicted of murdering 16-year-old Harry Pitman after he was stabbed in the neck at a New Year’s Eve event in north London. Areece Lloyd-Hall was found guilty at the Old Bailey following a retrial as the jurors in the initial trial could not reach a verdict. Lloyd-Hall, a resident of Westminster, was unanimously found guilty after nearly eight hours of deliberation. He had previously been found guilty of possessing an offensive weapon. The fatal stabbing occurred on 31 December 2023 at Primrose Hill after Harry bumped into another boy while play-fighting and practicing high kicks.
According to the prosecution barrister Jocelyn Ledward KC, the incident escalated quickly from celebration to tragedy. Harry and Lloyd-Hall were strangers who had gone separately with their groups of friends to watch the fireworks.
