A man in Wolverhampton was fatally shot in the early hours of Saturday morning, sparking a murder investigation. The incident took place on Lilleshall Crescent in the Graiseley area of the city. West Midlands Police were called to the scene at about 00:15 BST, where they found a 30-year-old man who was pronounced dead shortly after.
Ch Insp Richard Evans expressed concern for the community in the wake of the shooting, stating, “We know that this will cause real concern and anxiety for people living nearby and we will have extra officers in the area to offer reassurance and listen to their concerns.” Police have urged anyone with information, dashcam footage, or mobile phone footage related to the incident to come forward to assist in the investigation.
Following the tragic event, residents in the area expressed shock and fear over the violence that occurred in what is typically considered a quiet neighborhood. David Roberts, a local resident who was in the area for shopping, remarked on the unusual police presence, highlighting that such incidents are rare in the normally peaceful surroundings.
