A man from Treorchy, in Rhondda Cynon Taf, has been sentenced to eight years in prison for sexually abusing 37 girls online. Cory Jones, 19 years old, pleaded guilty to 69 offenses, including blackmail, causing a child to engage in sexual activity, and distributing indecent images. The crimes occurred between 2022 and 2024, with victims ranging from 10 to 16 years old.

During the sentencing at Cardiff Crown Court, Judge Jeremy Jenkins emphasized the perils of unsupervised social media access for children. Jones was also slapped with a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life. The court heard that Jones would befriend victims, persuade them to send explicit photos and videos, and resort to blackmail when they refused.
