Online threats to Ammanford school pupil prompts lockdown

A teenager, aged 14, has been taken into custody on suspicion of issuing threats to commit murder following an incident that caused a portion of a school to be put on lockdown. The threats were reportedly directed towards a student at Ysgol Dyffryn Aman in Ammanford, Carmarthenshire, last Friday.

Earlier in April, a 14-year-old girl was given a 15-year sentence for attempted murder after two teachers and a student were stabbed at the same school. Ch Insp Mike Llewellyn reassured parents and the community that immediate action was taken to protect students and identify the suspect once the report was received.

The authorities have increased police presence in the area to offer additional security to residents and those attending the school in the days ahead. The heightened patrols are intended to provide reassurance following the recent threats made at Ysgol Dyffryn Aman.

Last Friday, the school was partially locked down as a safety precaution for a brief period to ensure the well-being of both students and staff. School officials promptly activated safeguarding protocols while law enforcement addressed the situation.
