Vodafone’s network experienced a major outage, causing disruptions for more than 130,000 customers across the UK. The issues impacted both broadband and mobile services, with many people reporting difficulties accessing customer service operators and the company’s website. The outage began around 15:00 BST, leading to frustrations for customers who were unable to use their Wi-Fi or mobile data.
In a statement, Vodafone acknowledged the problem and apologized to affected customers, noting that 2G voice calls and SMS messaging were unaffected. The company assured that the network was in the process of recovery. Netblocks, an internet monitoring service, confirmed a national outage affecting Vodafone’s broadband and mobile data services. Reports also indicated that some Vodafone shops were affected by the network issues.
Customers of other telecom firms that use Vodafone’s network, such as Voxi and Lebara, also experienced disruptions. Uswitch’s telecoms expert, Sabrina Hoque, highlighted the frustration customers face during such outages, especially when the duration is uncertain. Cloudflare Radar observed a significant drop in internet traffic related to Vodafone. The company has not disclosed the specific cause of the outage, but cyber expert Daniel Card emphasized the importance of swift response to network failures to maintain public trust and ensure smooth digital infrastructure operation.
