A man has been accused of stalking the leader of the Liberal Democrats, Sir Ed Davey, and his family over a span of several months. Inigo Rowland, who is also facing charges for possessing a flick-knife, allegedly showed up unannounced at the south-west London home of Kingston and Surbiton MP, on numerous occasions between June and October, as per a court list.
Having been remanded into custody after appearing at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court on 7 October, the 58-year-old from Surbiton is said to have targeted Sir Ed Davey, his wife Emily, their 17-year-old son John (who has a neurological condition and learning difficulties), and their daughter Ellie. Sir Ed, who initially won the Kingston and Surbiton constituency in 1997, lost his seat in 2015 but later regained it in 2017 before eventually becoming the party leader three years later.
Following Mr. Rowland’s arrest on 6 October for alleged offences occurring between June and October, a spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police confirmed his upcoming appearance at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court. Meanwhile, the Liberal Democrats stated that they are unable to disclose further details at this time, emphasizing that Ed’s primary concern remains the safety and well-being of his family
