A new statue celebrating the strength and resilience of motherhood has been unveiled in London.

The sculpture, entitled ‘Main’ (pictured), was created by the artist Helen Denerley and depicts a mother and child in a powerful embrace. It is located in Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens, a public park in south London.

The statue was commissioned by the motherhood charity, Every Mother Counts, and is intended to raise awareness of maternal health and the challenges faced by mothers around the world.

“Main represents the beginning, the root, the essence of motherhood,” said the charity’s founder, Christy Turlington Burns. “We hope this statue will serve as a symbol of unity and strength for mothers everywhere.”
