Liverpool is hosting a special event aimed at promoting road safety for residents over the age of 60. While overall road collisions have decreased by 48% over the past five years, incidents involving older drivers have increased by 5%. The event, organized by Liverpool City Council’s Road Safety team, is designed to provide valuable information to help senior road users navigate the city safely, whether they are driving, walking, cycling, or using public transportation. It will be held on Thursday, October 23, from 10 am to 2:30 pm at the Holiday Inn on Lime Street.
During the event, attendees will have the opportunity to hear from expert speakers representing the Council, Merseyside Police, Arriva Buses, and Merseytravel, who will offer tailored tips and advice for those over 60. Additionally, there will be stalls set up to provide support and guidance, including information on minimum eyesight standards and accessing public transport services. Attendees can enjoy refreshments and a buffet lunch throughout the event.
