In TikTok videos, individuals discuss past relationships characterized by swag gaps, with some like Ifesinachi expressing their unwillingness to be in such a situation. According to Ifesinachi, a swag gap occurs when two partners do not align in terms of aesthetics, clothing, and even lifestyle. The partner more invested in fashion and appearance may feel that the other doesn’t care about their look, leading to potential conflicts beyond just a mismatched public appearance.

Dating coach Vicki Pavitt suggests that swag gaps can create tensions as individuals want to feel proud standing next to their partner. This disparity in style could lead to feelings of disrespect within the relationship.
