Liverpool City Council and Smokefree Liverpool are supporting the national Stoptober campaign with a strong local initiative aimed at helping residents kick the smoking habit for good. This year, there is an increased level of assistance available to those looking to quit.
The campaign will showcase real-life success stories from individuals like Jason Scott, 58, who managed to quit smoking after more than four decades. These stories will be shared on social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and Google, with a focus on communities most impacted by smoking-related issues. The main message of the campaign is one of encouragement and optimism, emphasizing that now is the ideal time to quit, and that Liverpool offers more support options than ever before.
Smokefree Liverpool provides a variety of free support services, including face-to-face or telephone counseling with trained advisors, free nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) like patches or gum, varenicline or a free vape to help with cravings, access to a dedicated quit-smoking app, and expert guidance throughout the quitting process. Those who sign up to quit smoking with Smokefree Liverpool during the Stoptober Challenge could win a £40 Love2Shop voucher by staying smoke-free for 28 days and verifying their quit with a CO reading, as quitting for that period increases the likelihood of long-term success.
To get involved, individuals can visit the Smokefree Liverpool website or call the provided number to start their quitting journey.
