Sarah Johnson from Meopham in Kent is speaking out about the sexual assaults she experienced at the hands of her physiotherapist, Purnoor Bawa. She believes that more should have been done to prevent him from continuing to abuse patients. Bawa was ultimately sentenced to six years in prison for inappropriate touching of six women during treatment sessions spanning from 2013 to 2019.
Following Sarah Johnson’s assault, it was revealed that Bawa had previously assaulted two other women at NHS clinics in Kent in 2013. The Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust expressed deep concern over the complaints regarding Bawa’s conduct. While steps were taken to investigate and protect patients following one assault, the Trust was not made aware of the second allegation by a different victim.
