Tributes continue to pour in for a young police officer who tragically lost his life after being hit by a car while responding to a road crash. PC Faizaan Najeeb, 24, was attending a single-vehicle crash on Station Road in Raunds when the incident occurred in the early hours of 19th September. He passed away in hospital following the accident.
PC Najeeb, who had previously worked as a Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) in Bedfordshire, was described as someone who would be greatly missed by his colleagues. The Bedfordshire Police force expressed their sorrow, highlighting his ability to bring positivity and joy to those around him. A man in his 20s, who was taken into custody at the scene, has since been released on bail.
Having joined the Bedfordshire Police in February 2021, PC Najeeb then moved to the Northamptonshire force in May 2022 where he served with the response team in Wellingborough. Colleagues from Bedford expressed their devastation over his untimely passing, emphasizing his willingness to help others and the lasting impact he had on those he worked with.
A moment of silence is scheduled to take place this week at the Wootton Hall headquarters in Northampton in honor of PC Najeeb. His collar number, P1967, has been retired as a tribute to his memory. Northamptonshire’s chief constable, Ivan Balhatchet, conveyed the profound sadness felt within the police force at the loss of an officer while on duty. Investigations into the collision are ongoing, with the support of specialist family liaison officers provided to PC Najeeb’s loved ones during this difficult time.
