Former nursery worker Roksana Lecka, from west London, has been sentenced to eight years in prison for engaging in multiple instances of child cruelty against 21 babies. Lecka, a 22-year-old from Hounslow, admitted to seven counts of cruelty to children under the age of 16 and was later convicted of an additional 14 counts following a trial involving her actions at two separate nurseries. Nevertheless, she was found not guilty of three counts of child cruelty.
The discovery of Lecka’s crimes occurred in June of last year, after she was sent home for physically harming several children at the Riverside Nursery in Twickenham, located in south-west London. During the trial at Kingston Crown Court, parents of the victims expressed their emotions of heartbreak, guilt, and a sense of distrust in the impact statements presented.
