Additional Government funding for Liverpool welcomed

Liverpool City Council has announced that three more neighborhoods in the city will be receiving funding from the Government’s new ‘Pride in Place’ initiative. Over the next decade, areas of Everton, Norris Green, and around Newsham Park will each receive £2 million per year for various projects, such as reviving the high street, developing new spaces for young people, and repurposing derelict buildings. This allocation of funds is in addition to the funding already designated for Speke under the ‘trailblazer’ initiative.

Council Leader, Cllr Liam Robinson, expressed his enthusiasm for the opportunities presented by the government’s investment in Liverpool. He stated, “This is a positive development for some of the most disadvantaged communities in the city and the country. Such significant investment from national governments has been absent in Liverpool for over 15 years. I am eager to collaborate with communities to drive real regeneration and positive change that will enhance the local environment.”

The news of the additional funding for these areas has been well received by Liverpool City Council, as it signifies a meaningful commitment to improving the quality of life for residents in these communities. The ‘Pride in Place’ initiative aims to empower localities, create vibrant spaces, and address economic disparities that have persisted for years. This injection of funds will play a crucial role in transforming these neighborhoods and generating a sense of pride and prosperity among its residents.

The implementation of the ‘Pride in Place’ initiative in Everton, Norris Green, and around Newsham Park underscores the government’s recognition of the potential for growth and development in these areas. With a clear focus on community engagement and sustainable projects, this investment marks a significant step towards reshaping the urban landscape and fostering inclusive growth in Liverpool.
