A tragic accident on the A9 at Slochd has claimed the lives of a Norfolk couple, Teresa Dyer, 45, and Gareth Watts, 43. The incident involved a white Ford Fiesta car and a white Vauxhall Vivaro van and occurred at approximately 07:10 on Monday, September 15, between Inverness and Aviemore. Sadly, both Dyer and Watts were pronounced dead at the scene.
Following the crash, the two male occupants of the van were transported to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness for treatment and later released. The road had to be closed for about seven hours to facilitate an investigation into the circumstances of the collision.
Sgt Chris Donaldson of the Highland and Islands Road Policing Unit expressed condolences, stating, “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Teresa and Gareth, who have requested privacy during this difficult time.” The investigation into the crash is currently ongoing, and law enforcement officials are urging anyone with information or dashcam footage from around the time of the incident to come forward to assist with the inquiry.
The tragic accident serves as a somber reminder of the importance of road safety and vigilance while driving. Authorities are working diligently to piece together the events that led to the collision, in hopes of preventing similar tragedies in the future
