Rhondda Cynon Taf: Jordan Moray's remains found by walker

The discovery of skeletal remains belonging to a man who had been missing for six years has been made in south Wales by a walker, according to an inquest. Jordan Moray, a resident of Cwmbach near Aberdare in Rhondda Cynon Taf, was reported missing from his flat in July 2019, with his games console still running and his mobile phone charging. Despite extensive searches by the police, his remains were not located until August 29, 2025. The inquest, held at Pontypridd Coroner’s Court on Friday, revealed that the remains were found in a secluded area near Merthyr Tydfil.

South Wales Police had previously received a report of human remains near the Llwyn-on Reservoir in the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park, also known as the Brecon Beacons. A post-mortem examination was conducted, but the cause of death could not be determined. Andrew Morse, the Assistant Coroner for South Wales Central, presided over the inquest, which has been adjourned to a later date. He extended his sympathies to the family of Mr. Moray for their loss.

The discovery of the skeletal remains after such a long period of time brings some closure to the case of the missing man. The remote location where the remains were found adds a layer of mystery to the circumstances surrounding his disappearance. With the cause of death remaining undetermined, further investigation and deliberation will be necessary to bring clarity to this tragic situation. The inquest shedding light on the timeline of events leading up to the discovery of the remains emphasizes the importance of perseverance and continued efforts in missing persons cases
