Thomas Partey: Ex-Arsenal star denies rape and assault charges

Former Arsenal footballer Thomas Partey has refuted allegations of raping two women and sexually assaulting a third woman. The Ghanaian midfielder entered pleas of not guilty to five counts of rape and one charge of sexual assault during his appearance at Southwark Crown Court. The incidents in question reportedly occurred between 2021 and 2022, when Partey was an active player in the Premier League, but he was formally charged shortly after departing from Arsenal at the conclusion of his contract in June.

Partey, 32, was released on bail pending his trial, scheduled to commence on 2 November the following year at the same court. He affirmed his identity before formally denying each of the accusations leveled against him. While the former Arsenal player now competes for Spanish outfit Villareal, he was present in England for his new team’s recent match against Spurs in the Champions League. Despite his legal situation, he was able to participate as a substitute in the game, which resulted in a 1-0 defeat for Villareal.

Although Partey is allowed to continue playing football under the terms of his bail, there are stipulations in place. He is obligated to inform the authorities of any international travel plans 24 hours in advance and is prohibited from contacting the individuals who have brought forth the complaints against him.
