Seven men and teen admit of Newport violent disorder

Eight individuals, including seven men and a teenager, have confessed to engaging in violent disorder in the city center of Newport. The guilty parties, ranging in age from 17 to 52, hail from Newport and accepted their wrongdoing at Cardiff Crown Court. The altercation stemmed from a clash between two families, leading to significant violent incidents as reported during a previous court hearing.

On a fateful Friday on August 1, Gwent Police responded to reports of men brawling on Commercial Road in Newport’s Pill area. The aftermath of the conflict resulted in four men being hospitalized. The individuals who admitted to using or threatening violence that caused fear among bystanders were Mazhar Aksoy, Burak Aksoy, Murat Aksoy, Mehmet Aksoy, Savas Sayak, Yagmur Sayak, and Firat Sayak. Additionally, a 17-year-old, whose identity cannot be disclosed for legal reasons, also pleaded guilty to the charge, with all defendants requiring the assistance of an interpreter during the court proceedings.

While the adult defendants were remanded in custody, the teenage defendant was granted bail under the condition of refraining from being present on Commercial Road. The sentencing for all involved parties is scheduled to take place at Cardiff Crown Court in November.
